Non profit arts organizations may apply to United Arts of Central Minnesota to become a one of its funded agencies if the organization meets the following guidelines:
Requirements:
- The organization must be in existence for a minimum of two years prior to the date of its application for funding.
- The organization must hold status as an incorporated nonprofit arts organization with a volunteer board of directors and tax exempt status a 501(c)(3) arts organization for a minimum of one year prior to the date of application for funding.
- The organization must be able to provide financial statements (audited if available) for two of its completed fiscal years in operation as well as two completed IRS 990 forms (if applicable).
Application Procedure for New Organizations:
- Applicant must submit a formal letter of request to apply for membership, addressed to United Arts’ President. The letter should include reasons the organization wants to be affiliated with United Arts and how the organization would be a benefit to United Arts.
- Applicant will be invited to make a presentation to the United Arts Board of Directors.
- Prior to the presentation, applicant will provide a copy of the following materials to the Executive Director of United Arts of Central Minnesota.
- Mission Statement
- Current Board of Directors roster
- History of the organization (include founding, past seasons, etc.)
- Description and evaluation of past season: include attendance of events, ticket sales, sponsors, donors, membership and other applicable items
- Description of current season and plans for following season
- Involvement in and impact on the St. Cloud area and Central Minnesota community.
- Description of volunteer involvement in the organization (number, duties, etc.)
- Short and long-term plans and goals
- Copy of 501(c)(3) tax exempt letter
- Copies of the organization’s two most recent IRS form 990, if applicable
- Financial statements (audited, if available); budget and actual figures for prior two years, current year and projected year.
For New Organizations:
A funding provisionary period of two years will be in effect beginning on the date the applicant is accepted by the United Arts Board of Directors as a funded organization. the allocation distribution for new organizations is as follows:
- Year One: 50% of full funding based on the Allocations Policy will be awarded.
- Year Two: 75% of full funding based on the Allocations Policy will be awarded.
- Year Three: 100% of full funding based on the Allocations Policy will be awarded.
Obligations:
- The organization will meet all policies, postion statements and standards esttablished by United Arts of Central Minnesota’s Board of Directors.
- The organization will provide volunteers for United Arts’ annual fundraising campaign and other United Arts projects as needed.
- Each organization must appoint a representative who will facilitate communication between the organization’s board of directors and the United Arts Board of Directors.
- Each organization’s representative must participate in monthly Advisory Council meetings.
- Members of the Advisory Council shall elect three representatives to the United Arts Board of Directors.
- Each organization’s representative must participate in at least one standing committee.
- The organization will collaborate with other arts organizations whenever possible.
- The organization will acknowledge its status as a United Arts organization in printed materials and media promotions in the following ways:
- Include a written statement: For example, “(Organization Name) is supported in part by United Arts of Central Minnesota.”
- Include United Arts’ logo in event programs, season brochures, etc.
- Include a current list of United Arts’ donors in event programs.
- Display United Arts’ logo prominently at events.
- Organizations will not encourage or promote designated campaign contributions to their own organizations.
- Organizations will include United Arts on their general mailing lists.
