Mission:

The Minnesota Center Chorale is committed to providing both its membership and audience with a significant personal experience through the performance of great choral music both traditional and contemporary.

Overview:

The Minnesota Center Chorale -90 voices strong-offers a wide repertoire of music that challenges its experienced local singers and inspires its devoted audiences. Dr. J. Michele Edwards, music director and conductor since 2004, replaced founding music director Philip Welter after his retirement at the conclusion of his 31st season with the Chorale.

History:

Ninety voices strong, the Minnesota Center Chorale’s first season was launched in 1973 at a full house (!) performance of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah at the Benedicta Arts Center. The first concert was a collaboration with the CSB-SJU Symhony Orchestra. For three decades of continuous operation since then, under the baton of founder, conductor and Music Director Philip Welter, followed by Dr. J. Michele Edward, the Minnesota Center Chorale has provided audiences in the region with hundreds of concerts.
